Distribution of chemical products
Nonferrous metal salts and oxides

Chemical products based on Cobalt, Nickel, Iodine, Selenium, Tin, Lithium, Vanadium, Molybdenum, Copper, Antimony, Chromium:

Chemical products based on cobalt
Cobalt is a metal widely found in nature with a concentration of 0.0023% in the earth?s crust. Minerals have a very low Cobalt content and Cobalt is always associated to other metals. Cobalt is a metal used in the metallurgy, ceramic, chemical, batteries and animal husbandry industries. Todini, the No. 1 distributor in Italy of chemical products with a Cobalt base, has been offering its clientele (covering all the application sectors) a complete range of cobalt metals and salts for over ten years.
Chemical products based on nickel
Nickel is naturally found in the earth's crust in concentrations of 0.0042% and generally not in the free state but associated to numerous other metals. Nickel has a shiny white appearance and is usually mixed with other metals to produce alloys; while Nickel compounds can be used in many different applications: in the petroleum and chemical industry, in galvanic technology, in electronic engineering for preparing dry-cell batteries and in chemical laboratories. Todini has been distributing Nickel salts and oxides as well as Nickel metal for over 10 years and has become an important distributor at a domestic and international level.
Chemical products based on iodine
Iodine is one of the rarest non-metallic elements and is not naturally found in the liberal state but combined to other elements, it is present in rocks, soil and water and is essential for plants and animals. Iodine occurs in the form of brown-black granules or flakes with a metallic shine and has a very distinctive odour. Iodine vapours cause inflammation to mucous membranes and, depending on the concentration, may cause lacrimation, conjunctivitis, and inflammation of the respiratory system. In medicine, iodine is used to treat thyroid disorders or in ointments as an anti-septic and parasiticide. In Italy, Todini distributes Iodine and its simple salts in the animal husbandry, agricultural, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors.
Chemical products based on selenium
Selenium is widely dispersed in nature with a 1.3 x 10-5% concentration in the earth's crust; it can easily be obtained in the solid, liquid and gas state. Selenium is used in the electronic industry, ceramic industry, iron and the steel industry to increase workability. In the form of mono-sulphide, Selenium has a yellow-orange appearance and is mainly used in the veterinary profession, while as a disulphide with a typical red colour, it is used in the pharmaceutical industry. For over 10 years, Todini has been distributing Selenium and Selenium salts from the best European selenium manufacturers for using in animal husbandry, glass and galvanic technology.
Chemical products based on tin
Tin is difficult to find in the native state and has a concentration of 3 x 10-4% in the earth's crust. It is a white metal with shiny reflections and is very malleable. This malleability increases when the metal is heated at 100°, and drops abruptly at 200°. Tin is used in the food and chemical industry because of its excellent deformability properties and its high resistance to atmospheric agents. Tin is used in the composition of many alloys, especially with copper to form bronze. Todini has been distributing Tin salts and oxides since 2000.
Chemical products based on lithium
Lithium is not found in a free elemental state and its compounds are widely dispersed in the earth's crust, although in low concentrations. Its total concentration is around 0.003% In its pure form, lithium is a silver white metal and is generally more stable at room temperature in respect to other alkali metals. Lithium can be used in many applications: in iron metallurgy it reduces the viscosity of stainless steel, in the pharmaceutical industry it is used in the synthesis of Vitamin A, in the form of salts and oxides it is used in various industrial sectors.
Chemical products based on vanadium
Vanadium is widely dispersed in nature and its concentration in the earth's crust is equal to 0.016%; it assumes different colours depending on the level of oxidization. The applications of vanadium have still not been completely explored; most of the metal produced is transformed into Vanadium ferroalloy, which is used for manufacturing Vanadium steels. Some compounds like ammonium metavanadate and vanadium pentoxide are used as oxidation catalysts. Todini offers this range of products for the ceramic sector and as catalysts.
Chemical products based on molybdenum
Molybdenum is naturally found in the earth's crust at a concentration of 7.2 x 10-40% and is not a free element. Molybdenum has many colours; as a compact mass it is a silvery white metal, while in powder form, it has a dull grey colour. Industrially, Molybdenum is used in the production of anodes and electronic tube supports. It also finds use as a catalyst in the oil industry for removing sulphurs, nitrogen and noxious metals.
Chemical products based on copper
Copper is a metal widely dispersed in nature as a free metal and combined to other elements, and has a concentration of 0.030% In its pure state, copper has a shiny pale red colour, it is ductile and malleable. It is an excellent heat and electricity conductor, although traces of impurities may negatively influence these proprieties. The elevated hardness of copper makes it suitable for using in the electrical industry and in the manufacturing of alloys like bronze and brass; it is also used in the chemical industry as a catalyst and in agriculture as an insecticide and fungicide.
Chemical products based on antimony
Antimony is found in the mineral stibnite and has a bluish white colour. Antimony has many uses: as an anti-emetic in the pharmaceutical industry, in the textile industry, in the production of enamels and paints, in the explosive and military industry. The metal has a low toxic level, while Antimony vapours, if inhaled, are very noxious. Todini and Co s.p.a. specialises in the distribution of copper salts for galvanic technology and electronics.
Chemical products based on chromium
In nature chromium is widely dispersed in the earth's crust. Industries use Chromium in the form of free metal that has a steel-grey colour and in the form of iron - chromium. Chromium is used in the preparation of nickel, cobalt and aluminium based alloys, in the oil industry as a catalyst, in electrical engineering and in the prevention of corrosion. Chromium is irritating to the respiratory system and may cause perforation of the nasal septum and also has a corrosive action on proteins.
Other chemical products distributed
Besides the metal derivatives present in the site, Todini and Co s.p.a.'s list of products distributed has been integrated with salts and oxides of other minor metals and with some organic products requested by its clientele made possible by a network of partnerships with producers all over the world. The products listed here are only some of the most requested.
